Haven Holidays launch pre school sports
equipment scheme
Haven Holidays have launched a Fun and Fitness
campaign to support pre-school children across the country – backed by
British Champion Rhythmic Gymnasts Francesca Jones and Keziah
Gore. Haven Holidays will be sending an invitation pack to pre-schools
throughout the country with a unique registration code. Pre-schools will need to respond to the
invitation in order to qualify for the scheme. Once they have secured a place
on the scheme (and it’s on a first come first served basis you will need
to be register quickly!) parents will need to pledge their support to make sure
their children’s can benefit from equipment. It’s a very simple
scheme. There’s no need to
collect vouchers, or make any purchase – all parents have to do is click
on the website, find their children’s pre-school and pledge their
support. For further information visit www.havenfunfitness.com.

Changes to Flexible
Working
Many
owners and managers will be aware of the current law regarding Flexible
Working, which states that all employees have a statutory right to request a
flexible work pattern if they have a child under the age of six or have a
disabled child under the age of 18. Flexible working describes a work pattern
adapted to suit the needs of an employee and includes part-time, flexi-time,
job sharing, staggered hours etc.
From
6th April 2009 this statutory right will be extended to parents of
children aged 16 years and under. Employees will from this date, have the right
to request a flexible work pattern. Employers must seriously consider any
employees request and can only reject it if there are sound business reasons
for doing so and can demonstrate why the request had been refused.
Self Evaluation and
Leadership
Most
of us are already aware that there is a direct link in business between
leadership and business success, and it’s great to see that this link has
been identified through the self-evaluation process. In conjunction with Leap,
an early years training and development organisation, we have put together our
top 5 tips for managers who are evaluating their setting. Click here to read
more.
EYO Forum.
Over the past few months we have felt that our Forum has become a bit jaded, difficult
to register on and plagued by junk registrations. So we are pleased to announce
that at the end of January we shall be launching a new revamped and up to date
Forum. We shall be sending out a specific e mail newsletter detailing exactly
when this will be happening and giving you some idea of the content and
registration process. So lets hope you all like our new format and find it a
useful way of keeping in contact with Childcare related issues.
