NDNA Snapshot Report on the current economic climate

The NDNA have recently published a snapshot report on the impact of the economic downturn. The survey was conducted with members from all over the country and came up with some very interesting results. Some of the headline findings were, one third of respondents reported that occupancy was down, but one third of respondents also reported that occupancy had increased! Four in ten had experienced changes to levels of bad debt and half of the nurseries said they had seen ‘noticeable changes’ in patterns of childcare use. EYO Forum.

This month has seen the re-launch of our Forum. The new, updated format makes it so much easier to register and use. The Forum is aimed primarily at you, the childcare practitioner. It would be great if you joined us, contributed and became part of the EYO Forum

Nurseries better than Grandparents

A report recently published by the Institute for Education came up with some interesting results on children who had been cared for by grandparents, as opposed to children cared for in a more formal environment. The report was based on results of the study of 4,800 UK children born in 2000 and 2001 who had mothers who worked when they were babies.
